A new country will officially join the normalization agreements with Israel known as the Abraham Accords, announced by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy on Thursday, Anadolu reports.
Steve Witkoff, US Special Envoy to the Middle East, revealed the upcoming announcement during a business forum in Miami, Florida. He did not disclose which country would join but confirmed the news would be revealed that evening at an event in Washington.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said.
President Trump is scheduled to host the leaders of five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. Although it is uncertain if the announcement will occur during this dinner, the US president is expected to attend any major related announcement.
The Abraham Accords are agreements signed between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries during President Trump’s first term, aimed at normalizing diplomatic relations.
