ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A 35-year-old man from Burlington, identified as Stephen Michael Frost, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly kidnapping a woman and driving dangerously as she tried to escape his moving pickup truck, according to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 4, the Burlington Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting that a dark Dodge Ram was being driven recklessly with a woman attempting to get out of the vehicle.
One of the emergency calls came from the Econo Lodge in Burlington, where deputies suspected a domestic disturbance had taken place. Surveillance footage allegedly showed a woman in a red shirt clinging to the back of a Dodge Ram with a Virginia license plate.
The pickup was last seen traveling near Maple Avenue toward the Interstate 40 East ramp. Later reports placed it near Highway 54 and Thom Road in southeastern Alamance County, but deputies were unable to locate the truck at that time.
The Burlington Police requested assistance from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team. Through investigative leads, the vehicle was traced to the Carrboro area, leading to cooperation with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team.
The combined task force located the Dodge Ram near Chapel Hill and took Frost into custody without incident.
Frost was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center, where he remains held without bond.
