Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to face trial in the U.S. for an attempted murder related to a shooting in May, Miami police confirmed.
Brown, 37, is currently held in Essex County, New Jersey, awaiting further extradition to Miami-Dade County. Details about the exact time of his apprehension and transfer to Miami-Dade remain unclear.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,” police said in a statement.
The charge stems from a May 16 dispute outside a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross. Brown’s social media showed he had been residing in Dubai for several months before his arrest.
After the warrant was issued in June, Brown’s attorney arranged a $10,000 bond with house arrest conditions. However, Brown did not surrender, and police later moved to extradite him from Dubai.
This development highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to pursue justice across international borders.
Antonio Brown's extradition from Dubai to face Miami trial marks a key moment in international cooperation against serious criminal charges involving high-profile individuals.
