Prosecutors have charged a suspect who stabbed another motorist twice in the chest during a dispute near a Mundelein neighborhood, leaving the victim in critical condition after emergency surgery.
The Mundelein Police Department responded around 7:27 p.m. on October 29 to Route 176 and Joice Lane following a report of a stabbing. Officers found a 57-year-old male victim bleeding from chest wounds, according to Police Chief Jason Seeley.
“The victim was able to provide a partial description of the suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle.”
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Emily Shanley-Roberts reported that the victim called 911 and had blood covering his chest. He described being stabbed twice on the left side of his chest during a road rage incident.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and immediately taken for surgery. Medical staff confirmed the victim had two stab wounds and impaired breathing.
“The trauma nurse and trauma doctor confirmed that the man had two stab wounds and his breathing was diminished.”
