A press conference in the Oval Office was interrupted on Thursday when a man fainted during President Donald Trump's announcement about a deal to lower the cost of obesity drugs.
A widely shared video shows the man collapsing. Independent journalist Eric Daugherty posted the footage, saying:
“A man just passed out during President Trump’s Oval Office announcement. Oz SPRUNG into action and assisted him. Pray for him.”
Many viewers expressed concern and offered prayers as the live feed was cut short.
The man was initially identified as Gordon Findlay, allegedly a Novo Nordisk executive. One social media account claimed:
“BREAKING: Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay collapses during Trump's announcement in Oval Office, announcement suspended.”
However, Novo Nordisk clarified that the individual was not associated with their company:
“CEO Mike Doustdar and EVP, US Operations, Dave Moore were the only two Novo Nordisk representatives in the Oval Office. We hope the gentleman who suffered a medical incident today is okay.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the incident:
“During the Most Favored Nations Oval Office Announcement, a representative with one of the companies fainted.”
The man who fainted during President Trump's obesity drug announcement was not a Novo Nordisk executive, and the incident occurred amidst a high-profile press event.
