Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks remains surprised by his trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, even months after the event. The trade, which shocked the NBA, has since proven beneficial for both teams.
On Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks decisively defeated the Timberwolves 137-114. Towns was outstanding, leading New York to a commanding victory.
“I'm still stunned, I mean, I'm still stunned. It's weird,” Towns admitted following the win over his former team.
The trade saw both teams reach the Conference Finals, with Towns averaging 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds per game, and shooting 52.6% from the floor, playing a crucial role for the Knicks. After the victory, Towns expressed mixed feelings about seeing his former jersey.
“I feel more like a Knick now after everything we went through last year, but it's weird to see that Wolves jersey — especially the fire black one — and not see ‘Towns' on the back of it,” he said.
Towns had spent nine seasons with the Timberwolves before the trade.
Despite his adjustment to New York, Towns still expresses a sense of disbelief about his trade from Minnesota.
Karl-Anthony Towns continues to grapple with the surprise of his Minnesota trade, even as he thrives with the Knicks and helps both teams reach new heights.
