Southend Pier has been transformed with a striking display of three miles of hand-knitted poppies in preparation for Remembrance Sunday.
The project, which began as a small community initiative, quickly expanded and exceeded expectations. More than 110,000 poppies were created by volunteers from across the region to decorate what is known as the world’s longest pleasure pier.
