Drew Barrymore Calls Ex Luke Wilson During Her Talk Show
Drew Barrymore surprised viewers on The Drew Barrymore Show by calling her former boyfriend Luke Wilson live on air while joined by filmmaker Vince Gilligan, who wrote their 1998 romantic comedy Home Fries.
During the episode on November 4, Barrymore and Gilligan decided to phone Wilson as they reminisced about the film. When he didn’t answer, the call went to voicemail, and Barrymore left a heartfelt message.
“We were just talking about you and we’re sending you love, and can you believe Home Fries was 27 years ago now?”
“I know this is just a voicemail, but I love you, I’m sending you love, and I’m here with Vince on the show and we’re thinking about you.”
She laughed afterward, admitting, “This is not going the way I planned.” Gilligan added warmly, “Great saying hi to you, Luke.”
After a commercial break, Wilson returned the call, greeting both Barrymore and Gilligan and joking that he had been doing chores when they phoned.
