Tiffany Haddish shared fresh insights about the much-anticipated sequel to her hit film Girls Trip during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. The actress, 45, confirmed that progress is underway and that filming could start next year.
“We had a meeting last week ... I’m telling it,” Haddish said. “They were saying we [are] gonna start shooting probably next year.”
According to Haddish, production may begin in the spring of 2026, ideally before summer starts. She added with excitement:
“She ready,” Haddish quipped, adding, “I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s going to be so much fun. Me and the girls were all talking. It was so funny, it was so good.”
The original 2017 comedy starred Haddish alongside Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah. The story followed four close friends reconnecting during a lively trip to New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival. The film’s success marked a turning point in Haddish’s career, propelling her into stardom.
Earlier this year, producer Will Packer confirmed that the sequel is actively being developed. He hinted during a March appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that the team is exploring new and possibly exotic locations.
“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time,” Packer said. “And we’re going to add maybe some new ladies.”
The anticipated Girls Trip sequel is moving forward, with Tiffany Haddish and the original cast expected to reunite for filming in spring 2026, under producer Will Packer’s creative direction.
