“TODAY” co-anchor Craig Melvin revisited his hometown, Columbia, South Carolina, reflecting on his first year at the anchor desk and sharing memories with Free Times.
During his trip, Melvin walked down the stairs of his preschool and entered the very room where he learned to read, an experience that brought tears to his eyes and marked the highlight of his visit.
“Columbia is just such a warm hug for me every time I go back,” Melvin said.
Melvin’s return to Columbia came nearly a year after he succeeded Hoda Kotb on the “TODAY” show. He described 2025 as a year of adaptation to the demanding lifestyle his role requires.
“You don't just host the show, you're not just one of the pieces of the show,” he said.
Craig Melvin’s heartfelt return to Columbia reveals his deep connection to his roots amid a busy year adjusting to the challenges of co-hosting “TODAY.”
