Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that the film What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is scheduled to begin shooting in 2026. The movie marks the 27th feature film in Scorsese’s illustrious career.
The story follows an American couple who travel to a snowy European city intending to adopt a baby. However, their journey is complicated by a series of strange events.
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
The film is based on Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel published in 2020, which introduces characters including “an ancient, flamboyant chanteuse, a debauched businessman, and an enigmatic faith healer.”
Jennifer Lawrence told IndieWire: “Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. Leo and I worked together on Don’t Look Up.”
The collaboration marks another project between Lawrence and DiCaprio following their work on Don’t Look Up.
Author’s summary: Jennifer Lawrence revealed that the Scorsese-directed film starring her and Leonardo DiCaprio will start production early in 2026, adapting Peter Cameron’s novel about a couple’s unsettling adoption journey.
