Drew Barrymore Details Breast Cancer Scare

Drew Barrymore Reveals Breast Cancer Scare

On the November 3 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew Barrymore opened up about a recent health scare involving her breast. After receiving a concerning result from her annual mammogram, she faced a series of additional tests.

Experience with Mammogram and Biopsy

Drew shared,

"This was the thing I wanted to risk talking about on this show because I recently had a scare. I'm completely fine, but I did get a bad mammogram and I got taken into that room."

She continued,

"Then I had an emergency biopsy and I waited those five days."

Tig Notaro, a guest on the show and breast cancer survivor, empathized,

"It's a long wait."

Advocacy for Cancer Screenings

Throughout the years, Drew has actively promoted cancer screenings. Last October, she documented herself undergoing a mammogram to encourage viewers to overcome their fears of getting checked.

Wearing a hospital gown, she said,

"I'm about to put my breasts in a machine known as a mammogram."
A technician then explained the X-ray process step-by-step to educate the audience.

Highlighting Survivors

Drew also emphasizes the importance of survivor stories. She featured survivors like Tig Notaro and Hoda Kotb, who shared their journeys publicly.

Hoda Kotb reflected,

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I realized in that moment that it could all be over." She added, "I went through the surgeries and did all the things."
Kotb was diagnosed in 2007 and has been a powerful voice since.
