RSL Victoria is urging people to purchase a red poppy ahead of Remembrance Day on Monday, 11 November 2024. This date marks the anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War I fighting with Germany in 1918.
Commemoration Details
Every year, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, millions pause to remember those who served. Remembrance Day services will be held at 11am in the communities of Ararat, Willaura, and Lake Bolac.

The red poppy, also called the "Flower of Remembrance," was among the first flowers to bloom in the battlefields of northern France and Belgium after the war ended. Australia adopted the poppy as a symbol in 1921 to honour fallen soldiers and support survivors.
