According to a Channel 12 survey, two-thirds of Israelis believe the United States now directs military operations in Gaza. Only 24% think Israel is calling the shots, with 9% uncertain.
67% of respondents see the US as the primary influencer over Israel’s policy and IDF actions in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and American officials have denied that Israel is a "client state" of the US, emphasizing sovereignty and a partnership.
Netanyahu described Israel’s relationship with Washington as a partnership rather than dependency.
Despite this, 69% of the public agree with the characterization of Israel as a “client state,” with 23% strongly agreeing. Only 25% disagree with this view.
