On Wednesday, October 22nd, at 7 pm, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai participated in an online seminar available to Ursinus students to discuss her latest memoir, Finding My Way.
The event was part of the Author’s Talk Series organized by the Library Speakers Consortium. Yousafzai joined host and moderator Brandon Adler for an hour-long session, answering questions about her life and her new book.
Brandon Adler explained:
“The Library Speakers Consortium is a partnership of more than 500 library systems across the US, Canada, and New Zealand, with the goal of making author talks more accessible to communities of all sizes.”
Listeners could pose questions both through pre-submitted queries and live chat during the seminar. The discussion focused on Yousafzai’s experiences, especially challenges she faced during college.
This memoir contrasts with her first memoir, I Am Malala, by offering a more personal and candid perspective. Yousafzai shared:
“This memoir is the most personal reflection I have ever shared. This is me reintroducing myself for who I am, and the most important thing for me in all of these years has been to be true to myself. This is not to show myself as a symbol or as a hero but to show myself for who I am. This is the most personal story, and I have been very honest and open in talking about everything just to ensure that it’s the true side that people can learn more about.”
Malala’s latest memoir offers readers an intimate glimpse into her life beyond her public persona.
Author's summary: Malala’s memoir reveals her true self with honesty, focusing on personal growth and challenges beyond her public image.
