Edgar Wright, known for his precise sense of rhythm and timing, confirmed that a script for Baby Driver 2 exists while dismissing rumors about a new film inspired by the Coen Brothers.
In an upcoming interview for The Playlist’s Discourse Podcast about The Running Man, Wright laughed off speculation that he and Simon Pegg were working on a “Coen Brothers-style” film.
“I didn’t hear about that. Where did the Coen Brothers thing come from? I didn’t hear that.”
He explained that the rumor likely started from an offhand comment that was misunderstood and exaggerated.
Wright also addressed the many projects that never reach production, emphasizing the lengthy and uncertain nature of Hollywood development.
“Night Stalker is long gone,” he said. “But what exactly is the status of everything? Lots of things are in development, and [many] things are at a script stage. The development process is a long one, and some things go and some things don’t.”
He noted that directors often do not have full control over the order or progress of projects.
Despite his meticulous approach, Wright acknowledged that the final decision on what gets made doesn’t always rest with him, highlighting the chaotic nature behind the scenes in Hollywood.
