Return to the Upside Down with the Opening of Stranger Things Season 5

Netflix has unveiled the first five minutes of the premiere episode of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, titled The Crawl. The scene reconnects fans with the events of 1983, when Will Byers vanished into the Upside Down, an alternate and terrifying dimension.

In the clip, Will hides inside his improvised fort before a Demogorgon attacks him. The creature drags him through the dark realm to Vecna’s lair, where the boy faces his first chilling encounter with the menacing villain.

The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.

As Hawkins reels from these events, the government quarantines the town and intensifies its pursuit of Eleven, forcing her into hiding once again. The anniversary of Will’s disappearance brings back a deep sense of dread, signaling that the final battle is near.

With a darkness greater than anything they’ve confronted before, the friends must reunite — the full group — to face one last fight and end the nightmare that began years ago.
