The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Gérald Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past ten years. In this role, he managed humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and the organization of membership records.
Prior to that, he was a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and served as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012.
Caussé is the fourth apostle in the Quorum to be born outside the United States, joining Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Czech Republic), Ulisses Soares (Brazil), and Patrick Kearon (England).
“Elder Gérald Caussé is the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.”
Gérald Caussé’s call reflects the church’s increasing global representation and his extensive experience in church leadership.
