Edgar Wright Says He’s Still On A “Cape Break” 12 Years After Leaving ‘Ant-Man’ & Once Considered A Choose Your Own Adventure Cut Of ‘Shaun Of The Dead’

Edgar Wright Still Taking a “Cape Break” After Leaving ‘Ant-Man’

Filmmaker Edgar Wright has shared that he has no regrets about stepping away from Marvel’s Ant-Man and continues to keep his distance from superhero films twelve years later. In a discussion on The Playlist’s Discourse Podcast about his upcoming movie The Running Man, Wright reflected on his decision and creative journey since.

“I didn’t regret my decision to leave at all,” Wright said. “I had started working on that film long before even ‘Iron Man’ came out. By the time it came around, they had established the brand, the continuity, and even a certain way of making a movie. So the chance to do something really different was going away.”

Wright mentioned that he was never one to linger on the past but rather to explore it with curiosity. He revealed that he once considered a “choose your own adventure” version of Shaun of the Dead—a bold, experimental reimagining of his 2004 zombie comedy classic that never materialized.

“You’re not still losing sleep over that, are you?” Wright joked about the Marvel experience.

The director also touched on other rumors, confirming the existence of a Baby Driver 2 script and clarifying misconceptions about his creative control in filmmaking.
