Met Office delivers snow verdict as shift in UK weather expected

Met Office Delivers Snow Verdict as UK Weather Shifts

The Met Office has issued an update on the likelihood of snowfall in the UK, noting that next weekend’s weather is expected to be highly changeable. Forecasters have addressed growing speculation about wintry conditions reaching southern cities, including London and Southampton, as daylight hours shorten and temperatures typically drop during this period.

“At this stage, for the vast majority of people it looks unlikely,” said meteorologist Greg Dewhurst. “At the moment, there is a little bit of snow falling over the Scottish mountains, so anyone in the Cairngorms could be seeing some on the summits up there.”

According to Dewhurst, the snowfall will be limited to Scotland’s highest peaks and will not persist for long. Temporary snow coverings are possible over the weekend, but temperatures will rise again as the new week begins.

“This weekend we could see temporary coverings of snow on the Scottish mountains, but by Sunday night and through to Monday, the whole of next week looks very mild,” he explained.

Contrary to fears of widespread wintry weather, much of Britain is expected to experience unusually mild and warm conditions in the coming days.
