A woman in Southern California was reportedly banned from a Gold’s Gym following a viral confrontation with a trans person inside the women’s locker room. The situation gained wide attention online, leading fitness influencer Joey Swoll to respond publicly.
The woman, identified as Tish Hyman, stated she was undressed in the locker room when she turned and saw a naked trans person behind her. Startled, she addressed the individual as “sir.”
“You can’t tell me nothing, I’m a woman.”
According to Hyman, the trans person responded with those words before the exchange escalated. Hyman later explained her reaction online, emphasizing that she was shocked and unsure how to respond in the moment.
“I was naked, drying off, and turned around to see a man in the women’s locker room. I said ‘sir,’ trying to understand what was happening, and that’s when I got that response. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I started shouting and asking for help.”
Gold’s Gym reportedly terminated Hyman’s membership following the incident. She expressed frustration, claiming she was expelled for speaking out.
“Gold’s Gym has grown men in the women’s locker room, and I’m getting kicked out. I want to make sure other women know.”
Fitness personality Joey Swoll addressed the situation, asserting that women should not be labeled transphobic for desiring safety and comfort in gendered locker rooms. His comments fueled further debate about inclusivity and privacy in fitness facilities.
Following a locker room confrontation between Tish Hyman and a trans individual, Hyman lost her Gold’s Gym membership, sparking controversy and discussion led by Joey Swoll over safety and gender inclusion.
