Grant 'Alexis Black' Freeman, originally from Ohio, is a somatic healer and fitness coach who publicly came out as transgender in October 2024.
The viral confrontation took place at the Beverly Hills location of Gold's Gym, now operating as EoS Fitness. Alexis Black, a transgender woman and gym member, was confronted by musician Tish Hyman.
The incident was recorded by Brazilian journalist Paulo Francisco and showed Hyman accusing a patron she identified as "a man in the women's locker room."
"Grown men with big d***s [are] in the women's locker room," Hyman shouted as bystanders filmed.
Following the event, Tish Hyman claimed on Instagram that she and multiple women had submitted repeated complaints about the same individual prior to any action by the gym management.
"The gym staff has done absolutely nothing," she wrote, while denying accusations of transphobia and calling for a boycott of EoS Fitness.
Hyman added, "I treat people how I want to be treated... but this isn't right."
The gym confirmed that Hyman's membership was terminated after the incident. A spokesperson explained that the Beverly Hills location had transitioned to an EoS Fitness franchise, which is currently reviewing the situation.
