Edie Falco, known for her Emmy-winning performances in “The Sopranos” and “Nurse Jackie,” expressed interest in portraying a female superhero, describing it as an exciting new challenge.
Falco thrives on playing layered and complicated roles. She shared,
“Never have I said I can’t do that. You sort of find a way you can go and see, because you’re able to know you have to stop before it is dangerous. And I’ve been in therapy for 7,000 years.”She seeks roles that offer depth, stating,
“That’s what makes this exciting. To play someone with a less complicated life is less interesting.”
At 62, Falco feels fortunate to have portrayed a variety of complex female characters. She commented,
“I’ve been very lucky that kind of since I started working, female characters are getting more interesting and complicated, I feel like I’m riding this wave of really interesting and complicated female characters.”
She believes avoiding early typecasting helped her career, saying,
“I imagine if you’re only ever playing young, beautiful, sexy women, it’s going to get harder as you get older.”
Looking ahead, Falco is also curious about playing a political figure:
“Maybe I can get something out of my system,”she quipped. Would you like the author’s summary to be more formal or conversational?
