Vogue Williams recently shared a candid moment about the challenges of helping her six-year-old son Theodore with his maths homework. Speaking on her podcast, she said the experience brings back some old academic “trauma.” The popular host and mother of three — Theodore, Gigi, and Otto — admitted that evenings now often turn into shared learning sessions.
“I'm back at school though because of the kids. So I'm like relearning with them for their homework. I can do Gigi's homework alright. It's Theodore's I'm struggling with a bit. I'm not even joking.”
Her honest revelation struck a chord with parents who know the difficulty of re-learning school subjects to help their children. Many admitted they had faced similar moments of confusion during homework time.
“She brought home phonics and was teaching me!”
“My 12-year-old was struggling with his maths and I was neither use nor ornament.”
Even basic year-one maths can prove tricky once you try explaining it, with unfamiliar terms and multiple strategies replacing older, simpler methods.
“We don't talk enough about the trauma of a parent sitting with their child trying to teach them maths,” said Vogue’s co-host Joanne McNally, sharing a meme that perfectly captured the feeling.
Vogue Williams’ honest take on struggling with her child’s homework highlights a universal parenting moment — rediscovering school stress through the eyes of your own kids.
