No More Queues: Uber Introduces Digital Metro Ticketing For Mumbai Line 1

Commuters on Mumbai’s Versova–Andheri–Ghatkopar corridor can now buy and use metro tickets directly through the Uber app. This new feature eliminates long queues by allowing users to discover, purchase, and access Metro Line 1 tickets seamlessly within the app. The launch in Mumbai follows similar successful introductions in Delhi and Chennai earlier this year.

Partnership and Collaboration

The digital ticketing service is a result of a partnership between Uber, Mumbai Metro One, and the ONDC Network, aiming to simplify urban travel and enhance the public transport experience.

Statements from Leaders

“Bringing metro ticketing to the Uber app in Mumbai means less waiting, fewer hassles, and more control for riders. This is another step in our journey to make urban travel truly end-to-end - from planning to payment to commute - while supporting the city’s growing public-transport network.”
— Shiva Shailendran, Director – Consumer Growth, Uber India & South Asia

“The integration of metro ticketing on the Uber app through the ONDC Network demonstrates how India’s Digital Public Infrastructure can power everyday convenience at population scale. After Delhi and Chennai, we’re delighted to enable in-app metro ticketing for Mumbaikars with Uber, further strengthening open digital ecosystems for public transport.”
— Nitin Nair, Senior Executive Director, ONDC

Payment Method

Payments for metro tickets on the Uber app will be processed exclusively via UPI, highlighting Uber’s dedication to digital inclusion and support for India’s Digital Public Infrastructure.
