Claressa Shields signed a historic multi-fight contract worth at least $8 million with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records, making her one of the highest-paid female boxers in the sport.
Rather than exploring free agency, Shields chose to remain with her longtime promoter Dmitriy Salita, underscoring her loyalty and commitment to those who supported her career from the start.
Shields is an undisputed heavyweight champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist with 19 world championships to her name, achievements she feels justify the lucrative deal.
“Women in sports have been doing a lot the last past couple years, with the WNBA, soccer, even in boxing. I’m not the only woman who’s making money, but to have this deal get done, I feel like I’m getting my just due. I won two Olympic gold medals, I have 19 world championships and I think it’s fitting to have this great deal come about,” Claressa Shields said.
The agreement introduces a distinctive blend of sports and music, as Shields becomes the first athlete signed to Wynn Records, a label known for Hip-Hop artists including Papoose, her boyfriend.
“The best thing about this deal is it’s the signing bonus, right? So before I step into the ring, I get a large amount. The 8M is just, like, the minimum,” Shields explained.
Shields' romantic involvement with Papoose has attracted some controversy, adding complexity to her public and professional life.
Claressa Shields’ groundbreaking $8 million deal cements her elite status in boxing, blending athletic excellence with a unique music industry partnership linked to her personal life.
