Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, shared the heartbreaking news of their baby daughter's passing on Friday.
Vesia expressed his grief on Instagram: "Our little angel, we love you forever & you're with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second with her."
He thanked the Dodgers for their understanding and support, emphasizing how their baseball family, Dodger Nation, the Blue Jays organization, and fans expressed love and comfort through messages and posts.
Vesia also expressed gratitude towards Cedars Sinai and the medical staff who assisted Kayla and Sterling, his wife. Vesia shared a black and white photo of his daughter’s hand resting on his and Kayla’s hands.
The cause of death remains unknown at this time. Vesia had been away from the team since October 23, when it was announced they were dealing with a "deeply personal matter."
