Kemi Badenoch has condemned Police Scotland for failing to investigate a grooming gang operating in Glasgow, calling the inaction “utterly shameful.”
The Conservative leader criticized the Scottish Government for obstructing scrutiny of the case and warned that refusing to back a public inquiry raises suspicions that the SNP might be “hiding something.”
A woman spoke to GB News, sharing her experience of abuse during her early teens in a Glasgow care home. She claims that she and another girl were groomed by about ten men she described as Pakistani. The men provided them with alcohol and later crack cocaine.
“We would go there and we would be intoxicated. And sometimes you would not even really be aware of what was going on around you, and yes, some instances of being sexually abused.”
She added that the men would pick her up from the care home and “immediately start to ply her with spirits.” She also recalled waking up with no memory of the previous night.
“There were times when I would wake up and I had no recollection of the night before, no recollection whatsoever.”
The woman, identified as Taylor, filed a complaint with Police Scotland earlier this year. She also obtained hundreds of pages of her care records through a subject access request.
Kemi Badenoch has publicly challenged the SNP, accusing them of blocking investigation efforts into serious grooming allegations in Glasgow, while victims continue to seek justice and transparency.
