Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling announced the passing of Brian Mackney, a celebrated alumni and legend of Maple Leaf Wrestling in Toronto.
Brian Mackney, known as “Silent Brian,” became a beloved figure in Toronto wrestling during the 1970s and 1980s. He gained international recognition by competing in Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling and All-Japan Pro Wrestling, and worked across various National Wrestling Alliance territories, including Mid-Atlantic.
When the WWF took over Toronto, Brian continued wrestling there for several years under Vince McMahon’s promotion. Remarkably, Brian achieved all this despite being deaf, proving that his hearing impairment did not hold him back.
"MAPLE LEAF PRO is saddened to hear of the passing today of “Silent” Brian Mackney, a Maple Leaf Wrestling alumni and legend in Toronto."
"We were humbled to have “Silent” Brian in attendance this past May for our event at the former Maple Leaf Gardens and we are proud of his place and legacy in Maple Leaf Wrestling history."
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling extends their deepest condolences to Brian Mackney’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
Brian Mackney’s determination and impact on the wrestling world remain inspirational, especially as he excelled despite being deaf, leaving a lasting legacy in Toronto and beyond.
