The Survivor of Air India Flight 171

On Sunday, 60 Minutes features Viswashkumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of Air India Flight 171, which crashed in June, killing 260 people. The disaster occurred five months ago when the flight plummeted from the sky and exploded in a devastating fireball.

Of the 242 passengers and crew onboard, only 39-year-old Viswashkumar survived. His escape from the flames is extraordinary, yet he remains overwhelmed by grief and guilt. He questions why he survived while so many others, including his brother Ajay, did not.

Viswashkumar feels abandoned by Air India and claims his requests for assistance and inquiries into the crash cause have been ignored.
