Paul Rodgers has announced he will not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this weekend due to health concerns, disappointing fans hoping for a band reunion.
Bad Company is being inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2025, marking their first nomination. Alongside them, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, and renowned session musician Carol Kaye will be honored. Oasis continues to await their induction despite previous nominations.
There was anticipation that surviving members Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke would appear together to commemorate late bandmates guitarist Mick Ralphs and bassist Boz Burrell. Rodgers’ recent health struggles have halted those reunion plans.
“My hope was to be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time, I have to prioritize my health,” Rodgers wrote on Instagram. “I have no problem singing; it's the stress of everything else.”
Rodgers, co-founder of Bad Company after Free disbanded, has experienced multiple strokes in recent years. These health issues contributed to the band's retirement announcement in 2023. Their final performance was in 2019, opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd in Las Vegas.
Since 2008, former Heart guitarist Howard Leese has filled the role of lead guitarist for Bad Company.
Paul Rodgers prioritizes his health over performance, marking a poignant moment for Bad Company’s Hall of Fame recognition.
