Mark Richt, former Georgia and Miami coach and current ACC Network analyst, addressed false reports circulating online about his hospitalization. He clarified on social media that he is not in the hospital despite some rumors.
“Apparently, there’s something out there on the Internet saying that I’m in the hospital,” Richt posted on X. “Lol.”
Richt humorously mentioned that although he appeared to be struggling physically while running down the street, it did not require hospital admission.
In 2021, Richt revealed his diagnosis with Parkinson's disease after people noticed his changes in movement. He shared a positive outlook, seeing it as a temporary challenge compared to his hopeful future.
“I have been waddling around lately and people have asked me what’s wrong. I’ve decided to tell everyone at the same time. I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Truthfully I look at it as a momentary light affliction compared to the future glory in heaven. Thank you Jesus for promising us a future blessing of a glorified body that has no sin and no disease. In the meantime I am going to enjoy the blessings that I do have. See you on the ACC Network!”
Richt also survived a heart attack in 2019. His coaching record includes a 145-51 run at Georgia from 2001 to 2015, securing SEC titles in 2002 and 2005. He then led Miami to a 26-13 record over three seasons before retiring in 2018.
As a former Miami quarterback in the early 1980s, Richt's final seasons saw a 10-win year in 2017 followed by a 7-6 record in 2018.
Mark Richt stays upfront about his health while reflecting on a successful coaching career filled with notable achievements and resilience.
