West Indies threatened to chase down New Zealand’s total of 177 for nine in Nelson but fell short, finishing at 168 after Romario Shepherd was caught in the deep off the penultimate ball, ending with a career-best 49 runs.
With this result, New Zealand leads the five-match series 2-1, continuing the trend of close finishes where the batting side chasing struggles to close the game.
At one point, West Indies seemed out of contention at 88 for eight in the 13th over, but Romario Shepherd and fellow seamer Shamar Springer launched a counterattack, scoring 78 runs off just 6.3 overs. Springer was caught and bowled by Jacob Duffy for 39 with one over remaining.
Facing 12 runs needed to win in the final over, West Indies managed only two runs off Jamieson’s first four deliveries before he removed Shepherd, triggering New Zealand’s celebrations.
Earlier in the series, Jamieson played a key role for New Zealand in the second T20 at Auckland, conceding just 12 runs in the final over, helping his team win by three runs and level the series.
Jamieson had also been effective when New Zealand levelled the series in Auckland on Thursday, conceding 12 in the final over of a nerve-jangling three-run victory.
His calm and effective bowling under pressure has proven decisive across the series.
