Gospel Reflection - Sunday, November 9, 2025

Jesus cleanses the temple, courageously confronting corruption with prophetic zeal—an action that marks the beginning of his journey toward crucifixion.

Vision of the Temple's Water

Then he led me back to the entrance of the temple, where water flowed from beneath the threshold toward the east, since the temple faced that direction. The water emerged from under the south end of the threshold, near the altar.

Next, he brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east. There, water flowed out on the south side.

He said to me, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; and when it enters the sea, the sea of stagnant waters, the water will become fresh."
"Wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish once these waters arrive. It will become fresh; and everything will thrive where the river flows."

The River Banks' Abundance

On both sides of the riverbanks, all kinds of trees will grow for food. Their leaves will never wither, nor will their fruit fail. They will bear fresh fruit every month because the water flows from the sanctuary.

"Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing."
Faith Amidst Turmoil

Therefore, we will not fear even if the earth changes, mountains shake in the heart of the sea, waters roar and foam, or the mountains tremble in their tumult.

Author's summary: This reflection reveals how Jesus’ cleansing of the temple signals his mission, while the flowing sanctuary water symbolizes renewal, life, and steadfast faith amid chaos.
