Sony's Next PlayStation Gadget Is a Monitor That Charges Your PS5 Controller

Sony is expanding its lineup of official PlayStation 5 accessories with a new gaming monitor that also serves as a charging station for the DualSense controller. This 27-inch PlayStation-branded display features a QHD IPS panel with a resolution of 2560×1440.

Design and Features

The monitor includes a unique “charging hook” that flips down from behind the screen to connect and charge the DualSense wireless controller. When not in use, the hook folds neatly out of sight. The feature works with both the standard DualSense controller and the DualSense Edge model, functioning similarly to Sony’s official PS5 Charging Station.

Performance and Compatibility

It supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically fine-tune settings to complement the connected console. The monitor provides a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles, while users on Mac or PC can push it up to 240Hz.

Release Plans

Sony plans to release the monitor in the United States and Japan in 2026. The company has not yet confirmed an exact launch date for its Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, announced earlier in September, suggesting both products might debut simultaneously.

“It includes what Sony is calling a ‘charging hook’ for the consoles’ controller, which folds down from behind the display, allowing it to be hidden away when not in use.”

Author’s summary: Sony’s upcoming PlayStation monitor blends high-resolution performance with a built-in DualSense charging hook, marking a sleek all-in-one setup for PS5 gamers.
