Sony revealed new hardware during its State of Play Japan event, including a 27-inch PlayStation monitor designed for both console and PC use. The QHD display features a 240Hz refresh rate with HDR support and variable refresh rates, although PS5 games are limited to 120Hz.
"It folds down from the rear of the display and you can place your DualSense controller on it, so you’re ready to play whenever the mood strikes."
The monitor will launch in the US and Japan in 2026, with pricing yet to be announced.
Alongside the new monitor, Sony introduced Pulse Elevate portable desktop speakers compatible with PC, Mac, PS5, and PlayStation Portal, scheduled for release in 2026. These releases indicate Sony's growing focus on the PC gaming market.
"The new hardware seems to be part of the company’s push to become more of a player in PC gaming."
Sony has also improved DualSense controller connectivity, allowing pairing with multiple devices simultaneously, simplifying the switch between PS5 and PC.
Sony's upcoming PlayStation monitor blends high refresh rates and convenience features like a DualSense charging hook, emphasizing the company's expanding PC gaming ambitions.
