Gujarat Giants, owned by Adani Sportsline, have declared their retained players ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi. Following a breakthrough 2025 season marked by their inaugural playoff appearance, the team chose to keep two key overseas players: captain Ashleigh Gardner and wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney.
The Giants will enter the auction holding two retentions and three Right-to-Match (RTM) cards, with a budget of 9 crore rupees and 16 squad vacancies. This approach highlights their commitment to maintaining a stable and competitive squad.
After finishing last in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons with just four points each, Gujarat Giants made a significant leap in 2025. They secured third place in the league phase by winning half of their matches. Under Gardner’s captaincy, the franchise reached the knockouts for the first time but were eliminated in the Eliminator by Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians.
"The team's turnaround season, built on character and cohesion, now forms the foundation of their reconstruction strategy ahead of the league’s first-ever mega auction."
This retention strategy demonstrates Gujarat Giants' focus on continuity and growth through experienced leadership and a solid core.
