NDP sweeps to power, ending 14 years of Conservative rule in B.C.

The New Democratic Party (NDP) has won a majority government in British Columbia, ending 14 years of Conservative rule in the province.

According to unofficial results, the NDP has won 57 seats in the 87-seat legislature, while the Liberal Party has won 41 seats and the Conservative Party has won zero seats.

"We did it, British Columbia," said NDP leader John Horgan in a victory speech. "We're going to work tirelessly every day to make life better for you and your family."

The NDP has promised to implement a number of policies, including a 15% tax on those earning over $150,000, a $15 minimum wage and increased funding for education and healthcare.

Conservative leader Andrew Wilkinson conceded defeat, saying that the results were a "resounding rejection" of his party's policies.
