Thanksgiving Dinner and Grocery Hampers for Those in Need
The Yellowknife Salvation Army had a big weekend, providing Thanksgiving dinner to those in need.
Approximately 250 people attended a traditional turkey meal on Monday, served restaurant-style.
Everybody seemed to appreciate the service and the food, said Tony Brushett, executive director of the Yellowknife Salvation Army.
- 600 hampers were sold on Saturday, raising close to $20,000 for groceries to support the food bank.
- An additional $1,000 was donated, which will go toward food security programs.
According to Brushett,
it was a busy weekend, but a very successful weekend.
