Porsche has always made great EVs, and as I learned on a 300-plus-mile trip, it's still getting better at this every year.
The company is getting ready to launch an all-electric version of the Cayenne, a big deal since the Cayenne is arguably the most important modern Porsche, being its first SUV at the turn of the millennium and still the standard-bearer for Porsche's SUV efforts.
Although the Macan Electric may be good, the Cayenne is considered the king, and now it's electric, too - with the company continuing to sell the gas-powered Cayenne for the foreseeable future. The "E4" electric Cayenne is emerging as a new tip-of-the-spear tech flagship that goes beyond even the Taycan in some ways.
The question remains if what is now Porsche's biggest, heaviest EV could still be a range champ.
