Keeley and Scott Ellis were initially looking for a home closer to their YouTube production offices in the Design District.
However, they stumbled upon a charming home in Winnetka Heights, just eight minutes away, and found a way to make it affordable.
“Then we saw it had a guest house,” Keeley said. “We knew if we kept it rented out, it would make our mortgage affordable, so we put in an offer!”
By renting out the guest house, they were able to make their mortgage payments affordable and have enjoyed living in the home for two years.
“It has been perfect for us,”Keeley said.
This approach is an excellent example of creative problem-solving in home buying.
