UConn Leads Women's Preseason AP Top 25
Defending champion UConn has been ranked as the No. 1 team in the country in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason women's basketball poll.
The Huskies received 27 first-place votes from a 31-member national media panel.
South Carolina, last season's runner-up to UConn, was picked secondand garnered the other four first-place votes.
- UCLA and Texas were ranked third and fourth
- LSU was ranked fifth
- Oklahoma was ranked sixth, their highest preseason ranking since 2008
The top 10 also includes Oklahoma State and Maryland. UConn is led by sophomore Sarah Strong and super senior Azzi Fudd under coach Geno Auriemma.
