Childcare Options in the Chilkat Valley
A childcare working group, facilitated by the Haines Economic Development Corporation, met to discuss the state of childcare in Haines and efforts to improve access.
The meeting, chaired by Haines Mayor Tom Morphet, featured a roundtable of local business owners and stakeholders from Chilkat Valley Preschool and the Chilkoot Indian Association.
“Our preschool is struggling,” said Morphet. “We’re down to one residential daycare.”
The goal of the working group is to identify challenges and seek a path forward to increase daycare and preschool availability in the area.
