An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for seriously injuring his 6-year-old son.
The man, Jeffrey Redd, was convicted of two counts of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old and domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old.
Redd's sentence includes 8 years in prison and 4 years suspended. He was found guilty after a two-day jury trial.
"This sentence is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our children," said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears.
Redd's violent abuse resulted in serious injuries to his son, including punching him in the face and stomping on him.
