Mata Debuts as Victory Teammate Shines in Auckland Draw
Melbourne Victory have fought out a scoreless draw with Auckland FC in their season opener.
Juan Mata made his highly anticipated club debut, coming on in the 68th minute at AAMI Park.
However, it was fellow recruit Denis Genreau who stole the show, excelling as an attacking playmaker and later shifting to defensive midfield.
"Just the beginning of Denis,"
said coach Arthur Diles. Mata's debut was the most minutes he has logged in an individual A-League Men game since February, but it was without reward.
