A decision on building 42 homes in Wisbech has been deferred after a public meeting raised concerns over the application.
The application by Bowsall Developments Ltd and Housing 21 to build 42 bungalows for the over 55s on land west of the playing field in Barton Road was recommended for approval by officers.
Cllr Barber told the committee that concerns had been raised at a public meeting organised by MP Steve Barclay the previous week.
Ward councillor Brenda Barber raised concerns about the ramifications if the application was to be approved, making a heartfelt plea on behalf of residents in the Barton Road area.
The application was considered at the Fenland planning committee meeting on Wednesday.
