Dermody is hoping to guide Ratoath to their second consecutive SHC title when they face Kiltale this Sunday.
After a 60-year wait for an SHC title, Ratoath won their first title 12 months ago and are now on the cusp of a repeat victory.
Andy Dermody, the Westmeath native and Ratoath's new manager, reflected on his successful first year in charge, saying:
The first few months were tough, we had plenty of lads in with county teams and we didn't really know what we had.
Dermody noted the challenges of his first game, where key player Daithi McGowan was with the Meath footballers, but Ratoath still managed to win against Kiltale and have since steadily improved.
