ICC Rejects Israel's Appeal Against Arrest Warrants
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has dismissed Israel's appeal against arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Despite misconduct allegations against its top prosecutor, the ICC is proceeding with its war-crimes case against Israeli leaders. The court rejected Israel's request to halt the warrant process while judges consider a broader challenge to the court's jurisdiction.
The issue, as framed by Israel, is not an appealable issue.
Notably, Israel is not a signatory to the Rome Statute and therefore not legally subject to the ICC's authority. The decision was made on Friday, with the ICC doubling down on its case against the leaders of the only democracy fighting Hamas.
