New Data on Police Arrests During Federal Task Force Surge

The City of Memphis has released new data showing the Memphis Police Department made 1,217 arrests in the first four weeks of the Memphis Safe Task Force's surge.

According to the data, 699 arrests were for misdemeanor charges and 518 were for felony charges. Mayor Paul Young stated,

"This is new... We still have our dashboard for the city, it still exists, but this is a new document that we're going to provide on a daily basis during this surge."

The data also reveals that serious offenses, such as murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies, remained consistent in 2024, but show a different pattern in 2025.
