Sault’s Jake Patterson, former London Knights goalie, dies at 31

Patterson, who played key roles in back-to-back OHL championships, is remembered for his talent in goal and his generosity of spirit.

The hockey community is mourning the loss of Jake Patterson, a Sault Ste. Marie native and former London Knights goaltender remembered for both his talent between the pipes and his kindness off the ice.

Patterson died suddenly on Oct. 16 at the age of 31, leaving behind his son Luca, stepdaughter Brooklyn, and his wife, Jami.

Patterson grew up in the Sault’s rinks and developed through local programs including the Sault Ste. Marie North Stars and Soo Greyhounds AAA programs, where his skill and composure in goal began to stand out at a young age.

He was later selected by the Plymouth Whalers in the seventh round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, before going on to make his mark with the London Knights.

He is remembered for his talent in goal and his generosity of spirit.
